When?... Where? |
On Saturday, November 10, 2012 the walkathon will take place at JD Hamel Park in Sarasota. The Walk is approximately 2.8 miles (5k). We begin at JD Hamel Park, located in downtown Sarasota, at the foot of Main Street and Route 41. We cross Route 41 to John Ringling Bridge and cross at Bird Key Park to return to JD Hamel Park ( see Map Route). |

| What Time? |
Pre-walk activities begin at 8 a.m. The Walk starts at 9 a.m. and ends at noon. Participants are encouraged to arrive early. At 10:30 a.m., we will raffle off fun certificates and gifts.

| How? |
The deadline to pre-register is Monday, October 8. We encourage participants to pre-register as early as possible. To pre-register, simply go to the link "Pre-register" to print the form and mail in your check.
If you choose to register the morning of the Walk, we ask that you arrive early to register at the booth, Register Today. We have a limited supply of our specially designed Sarasota t-shirts and purple awareness wristbands. Our pancreatic cancer Awareness Card and brochure, Pancreatic Cancer: Frequently Asked Questions, will be available to participants at the Walk. Pre-walk activities begin at 8 a.m.

| Why? |
The time is long overdue to raise awareness of the silent and aggressive pancreatic cancer. In 2011, an estimated 37,660 deaths from pancreatic cancer are expected to occur, and an estimated 44,030 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, as reported in Cancer Facts and Figures 2011, by the American Cancer Society, Inc. |

Our special button pins will be available to participants who have lost a friend or loved one to pancreatic cancer. Write the name of your loved one on the button pin, and wear your pin to honor them. |
