Our 5th annual Sarasota Walk takes place this year! Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Foundation, a tax-exempt nonprofit charitable organization, announces its 5th annual walkathon to raise awareness in our community of the silent and aggressive- pancreatic cancer.

Clinicians from M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Orlando will be available to provide information about pancreatic cancer.  We are also pleased to distribute our publication "Pancreatic Cancer: Frequently Asked Question" and our Awareness card.  Please stop by and visit their booth!

Join Us!  Bring your family and friends to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer.  Walk in honor of a friend or loved one.  Help us make a difference!

When?... Where?

On Saturday, November 14, 2009 the walkathon will take place at JD Hamel Park in Sarasota.  The Walk is approximately 2.8 miles (5k).  We begin at JD Hamel Park, located in downtown Sarasota, at the foot of Main Street and Route 41.  We cross Route 41 to John Ringling Bridge and cross at Bird Key Park to return to JD Hamel Park (see Map Route).

Why?
The time is long overdue to raise awareness of the silent and aggressive pancreatic cancer.  In 2008, an estimated 34,290 deaths from pancreatic cancer are expected to occur, and an estimated 37,680 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, as reported in Cancer Facts and Figures 2008, by the American Cancer Society, Inc.

Walk in Honor
Our special button pins will be available to participants who have lost a relative or friend to pancreatic cancer.  Write the name of your loved one on the button pin, and wear your pin to honor them.
