Pancreatic Cancer Awareness Foundation, a tax-exempt nonprofit organization, announces the fourth annual Sarasota Walk.  We walk to raise awareness in our community of the silent and aggressive - pancreatic cancer.

Clinicians from M. D. Anderson Cancer Center Orlando will be available to provide information about pancreatic cancer.  Please stop by and visit their booth!

When?... Where?

On Saturday, November 8, 2008 the walkathon will take place at JD Hamel Park in Sarasota.  The Walk is approximately 2.8 miles (5k).  We begin at JD Hamel Park, located in downtown Sarasota, at the foot of Main Street and Route 41.  We cross Route 41 and walk to John Ringling Bridge, cross at the light to Bird Key Park, and then return to JD Hamel Park (see Map Route).

  What Time?

Pre-walk activities begin at 8 a.m.  The Walk starts at 9 a.m. and ends at noon.  Participants are encouraged to arrive early.   At 11:00 a.m., we will raffle off prizes.

  How?

The deadline to pre-register has been extended to the evening of Wednesday, October 8, 2008.  We encourage participants to pre-register at any date prior to October 8, 2008.   You may pre-register by mail or online using a credit  card.  Simply go to the link "Pre-register" and join our cause.

If you choose to register on the morning of the Walk, we ask that you arrive early to register at the booth, Register Today.  We have a limited supply of our specially designed Sarasota t-shirts and purple awareness wristband.  Our pancreatic cancer Awareness Card and our brochure, Frequently Asked Questions, will be available to participants at the Walk.  Pre-walk activities begin at 8 a.m.

  Why?

The time is long overdue to raise awareness of the silent and aggressive pancreatic cancer.  In 2008, an estimated 34,290 deaths from pancreatic cancer are expected to occur, and an estimated 37,680 Americans will be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, as reported in Cancer Facts and Figures 2008, by the American Cancer Society, Inc.

  Walk in Honor

Our special button pins will be available to participants who have lost a relative or friend to pancreatic cancer.  Write the name of your loved one on the button pin, and wear your pin to honor them.

Join Us!  Bring your family and friends to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer.  Walk in honor of a friend or loved one.
